Just one mosquito bite is enough to transmit dengue. Dengue is a self-limiting disease. It lasts between 7 to 10 days.

IMPORTANT: It’s not the drop in platelet count that’s more dangerous, it’s the rise in hematocrit and hemoglobin that can lead to more complications.
Tawa Tawa or Salikapaw (Visayan) (English: Garden Spurge)

You can also buy this herbal tea at your local supermarket or health food store. The leaves and stems are used in making tea. It’s a great anti-diuretic and antibacterial but the most amazing thing about this herb is its ability to increase platelet production which is vital in treating dengue fever.

We should rename this weed to HA-HA or the FUNNY plant. HA HA HA!
Papaya Leaves

Take a fresh papaya leaf at the top of the tree and cut it into slices. Make sure to remove the veins on the leaf. Mix the leaves with 10 ml of cold water. Ground the mixture and filter it. Strain the concoction and drink the juice 4X/day. The complex mix of nutrients and organic compounds in papayas can cause a rise in your platelet count, the high levels of vitamin C help stimulate the immune system, and the antioxidants help to reduce oxidative stress and eliminate excess toxins in the blood.
Don't take this if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or you are allergic to papain, or you are allergic to latex or you have undergone surgery or about to have one soon.

Quail Eggs (aka in Tagalog as Itlog ng Pugo) Someone suggested to me 50 pieces of "itlog ng pugo". He said that's what he fed his daughter when she had dengue. Gumaling daw agad yung bata after only 2 days of hospital confinement.

Fish Oil

Basil Leaves This is the sweet basil kind. It reduces the symptoms of dengue & also prevents the outbreak of dengue fever. You can chew 15 basil leaves 3X/day. Or make tea out of them:
Take 15 basil leaves & boil them in water.
Let the mixture cool off.

Don't take basil leaves if:
You have a bleeding disorder. Blood clotting might go slow, and bleeding can increase.
You have low blood pressure. Your BP might become too low.

Coriander Leaves (aka Cilantro or Chinese Parsley)
Coriander is different from plain parsley. Coriander helps in reducing the body temperature during the infection. You can include these leaves as part of the regular diet (I use it in sinigang) or just follow the steps given below.
Step 1: Take a bowl of coriander leaves and wash them thoroughly.
Step 2: Take a bowl of water and mix the coriander leaves.
Step 3: Put the mixture in a blender.
Step 4: Drink the juice as many times as possible.

Don't take coriander leaves if:
You are allergic to aniseed, fennel, caraway, mugwort. You can suffer from allergic reactions.
You are diabetic. Intake of coriander juice may lower blood sugar levels.
Barley Grass (or Wheatgrass) Juice Barley is sebada in Tagalog. Barley grass juice or barley tea is highly effective in increasing the blood platelet count and that too in seconds. It fights dengue infection and stimulates the patient’s bone marrow to generate healthy platelets. Also, the chlorophyll content in barley grass increases the red blood cells (an important factor to cure dengue). You can either consume barley grass as such or make juice out of it. This is one of the best home remedies for dengue fever treatment. Follow the steps below:
Step 1: Cut the barley grass into small pieces.
Step 2: Blend them in the blender with some water.
Step 3: Strain and drink it twice in a day.
Avoid barley grass
You are suffering from gluten sensitivity or celiac diseases.
You are allergic to cereals.
You are diabetic. It might lower your sugar levels.
You have undergone surgery or about to have one.

Pomegranate Juice (aka Granada in Tagalog)
This boosts blood platelet count. If you dislike the bitter taste of papaya leaves or serpentina, you can opt for pomegranate juice. Supermarkets have them. It can lower cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, etc.
BP meds could interact with pomegranate juice. Some of the drugs are Lisinopril (Zestril), Enalapril (Vasotec) and captopril (Capoten).

Pure Cranberry Juice
There are cranberry juices that aren't pure. If you can find the unsweetened variety, go for that.

Neem (Nim in Tagalog)
Neem is available in health food stores as a supplement. You may even find them in some Indian stores. The neem leaves helps increase the blood platelet count as well as the white blood cells. It also improves the immune system.
Do not take neem if:
You are pregnant or seeking pregnancy.
Refrain from giving the dose to children. Severe side effects can occur such as diarrhea, seizures, brain disorders, etc.

Green Chiretta (Serpentina)

Green Chiretta is locally known as SERPENTINA. It earned the title "The King of Bitters" bcoz of its very bitter taste.
You can make this into a tea (boil for about 10 minutes). Drink it 2x/day. You can also just eat the leaves if you can stand its bitterness. Serpentina contains medicinal components & methanolic extracts in large proportions, which is proven highly effective against dengue virus. Red Camote Leaves I also heard about these being used to treat dengue.

WATER Force yourself to drink as much water or other fluids to prevent dehydration.
Goldenseal
It lowers the symptoms of dengue fever and clear up the virus. Goldenseal is poisonous in large doses. In 1997 goldenseal was place on the Endangered Species list and gathering the herb on public lands became illegal in the U.S. . Today, because of continuing demand, many goldenseal products are adulterations using goldenseal leaves instead of the vastly more valuable roots. Goldenseal is available as a supplements even in some supermarkets in the U.S. because of its popularity.

Coconut Water

Fenugreek Seeds

This plant is not native to the Philippines.
Orange Juice

Many doctors do say none of these home remedies really work against dengue. So it's up to you to decide whether these home remedies are for you or not. SOURCES:
