To all celebrity endorsers, be informed that you have to do this when you WORK (that means you get paid) to campaign for candidates:

Comelec: Celebrity endorsers must go on leave

http://news.abs-cbn.com/nation/02/11/10/comelec-celebrity-endorsers-must-go-leave Feb 11, 2010 The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday warned celebrities that they must go on leave from their shows or programs if they are endorsing political candidates.

"Kahit sinong media personality, on-air correspondent, basta naging campaigner, volunteer or campaign staff ng kandidato, ang sabi ng RA 9006 (Fair Elections Act). you should resign or take a leave of absence from being media personality," Comelec legal division chief Ferdinand Rafanan told ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG).

(If you are a media personality or on-air correspondent, if you are a campaigner, volunteer or campaign staff of a candidate, RA 9006 says you should resign or take a leave of absence from being a media personality.)

He said Comelec can file criminal complaints against celebrities who don't go on leave from their shows and programs during the campaign period.

Leo Martinez, director-general of the Film Academy of the Philippines, said the Comelec's regulation only covers artists who are "employed" or are actually receiving payment for their political endorsements. He said if you are not employed by a candiddate, you are not under the jurisdiction of that rule.

Ummm...not me. I suggest that you stay home & study majority of your time. Your home is safe. Our streets NOT. That is true in many countries, including the U.S. At any given time dangerous criminals may be roaming our streets. So huwag lang pagala-gala sa lansangan, huwag yung puro lakwatsa at gimik kung saan saan. Makinig sa magulang. Don't get mixed up with the wrong crowd who are curious about using alcohol & drugs. Don't join rallies, specially the ones led by the Reds & militant groups who are experts at manipulating & brainwashing young minds. You can do that when you reach the age of 25 or above which at that age you are most probably be more fully informed. You should probably be doing something more productive anyway. Instead of joining rallies, go read up on issues from balanced & fair media outlets to educate yourself. Reading gets you forewarned and forearmed. Learn to control your emotions. When you reach the right age, go vote but first read up on candidates so you know their sincerity & character. Don't be swayed by sound bites & motherhood statements that don't translate to concrete plans & visions. Look at what they did in the last ten years of their political life. Don't be like a 'Sister Elephant' (sorry if that's too obscure a reference for you). Don't be an ANGALista too much. No one wants to be around someone who complains a lot or crabby all the time. You could use a little smile. Too much self-confidence is not a good thing. One of the most important character traits to have as a likable human being is a good dose of humility. Listen to your elders. Don't listen to just any harebrained idea. Get the input of your elders and family. Lastly, don't think you know it all because you DON'T. We all go through that stage. Take it from someone who have been there and back. These are just my free advice to you. You can take them or leave them.

Is she that flat?

CHITO GASCWON

This is from GetRealPhilippines:

...Gascon approved the funding of UN Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard’s air fare and five-star accommodation just to attend the agency’s anniversary event. Of course the ultimate agenda was to give Callamard an “exclusive” one sided briefing on the status of Duterte’s war on drugs. The Philippine National Police was not even given a chance to speak to her to give their side. Callamard went on to issue statements downplaying the effects of illegal drugs in an attempt to make Duterte’s policy look like it was over the top.

Some people have highlighted how quiet Gascon was when the Kidapawan farmers protesting against the government’s lack of help during a prolonged drought in North Cotabato in 2016 were shot at by police resulting in the deaths of two people and dozens injured. There were also other similar cases of abuse in the past that were not “looked into” by the CHR like the Lumad killings in Mindanao perpetrated by members of the military in 2015. And let’s not forget how the CHR did not pursue a case against the Aquinos when farmers were massacred in 2004 at the Hacienda Luisita, the estate in Tarlac “owned” by the family. Granted, Gascon was not the Chairman of the agency in 2004, but the fact that he is friends with the Aquinos could mean justice for the farmers will remain elusive.

Indeed, the CHR seems to be useful to the Opposition, but useless to the victims of human rights abuses perpetrated by Gascon’s allies.
